DHA Statement on the Affordable Care Act Appeals Court Ruling

On Wednesday, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans ruled that the Affordable Care Act (ACA)'s individual mandate is unconstitutional. This morning, DHA President & CEO Wayne Smith issued the following statement in response to the ruling:

DHA Statement on Approval of Delaware's 1332 Waiver

Delaware Healthcare Association President & CEO, Wayne Smith, released the following statement in reaction to the approval of Delaware's 1332 Waiver: “Congrats to Delaware Department of Health and Social Services Secretary Kara Odom Walker, Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro, and their teams on gaining approval from CMS for a 1332 Waiver to create a reinsurance program for the Delaware individual health insurance market. This innovative approach should reduce premiums in the individual market by as much as 20 percent. For Delaware individual market participants, health insurance will be more affordable and accessible.”
