Other Long Term Care Resources:

American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA)

The AAHSA Web site is a wonderful resource for long term care news and practice guidelines.

The AAHSA Quality First Program is the aging-services field's national quality improvement initiative.  It is the philosophy of quality and a framework for earning the public's trust in our field.  For more information, check out the Web site.

Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS), Division of Long Term Care Residents Protection (DLTCRP)

The DHSS DLTCRP was created in 1998.  The DLTCRP is responsible for: the Adult Abuse Registry, Criminal Background Checks and Mandatory Drug Testing, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Registry, complaint and incident reporting related to long term care facilities, licensing and certification of long term care facilities, and developing regulations related to these areas.  Visit their Web site for more information.

Delaware Long Term Care Ombudsman Program

The Long Term Care Ombudsman Program investigates and resolves complaints made by or on behalf of residents of long term care facilities.  The program also provides volunteer opportunities for friendly visitors/advocates in nursing homes.  For more information, visit their Web site.

Nursing Home Compare

The Nursing Home Compare Web site was created by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to compare nursing homes based on the CMS Five-Star Quality Ratings, health inspection results, nursing home staff data, quality measures, and fire safety inspection results.
