Delaware sees spike in cases of respiratory virus

DOVER — Epidemiologists are urging Delawareans to take measures to protect themselves and others amid a spike in Respiratory Syncytial Virus, or RSV, cases in the state. The increase in cases comes amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the start of the flu season...
 

...Both epidemiologists urged Delawareans to get the flu and COVID-19 vaccines. Locations offering the flu vaccine can be found by clicking on the “influenza” menu option at the top of coronavirus. delaware.gov. COVID-19 vaccine locations can be found at de.gov/getmyvaccine.

Wayne Smith, president and CEO of the Delaware Healthcare Association, said in a statement that state hospitals plan for an increase in respiratory illnesses every year in the fall and winter seasons.

“Meeting the needs of all patients is the number one priority of local hospitals and clinics despite the current and anticipated spike. Delaware hospitals stand ready to care for everyone in need,” he said.
