Delaware Healthcare Association Releases First Health Equity Report
Highlights Delaware Hospitals’ Efforts to Improve Health for All

(DOVER, DE – December 19, 2022) Today, the Delaware Healthcare Association (DHA) released its first Health Equity Report. This report highlights how Delaware hospitals are prioritizing programs and initiatives to address health equity and improve health for all.

“Advancing health equity is a top priority for all Delaware hospitals, said Wayne Smith, President and CEO of the Delaware Healthcare Association. “Our members are in alignment in believing hospitals have a key role in ensuring every person can obtain the health care they need without bias, without discrimination, and with equal access to the health resources and information that will enable all to achieve their best possible health.”

The report describes efforts the Delaware hospitals are undertaking collectively. These include developing DHA’s Achieving Health Equity: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Statement and Agreement and committing to the American Hospital Association’s Health Equity Roadmap.

The report also provides examples of programs and initiatives that Delaware hospitals and health systems are leading to positively impact health equity in our state. These efforts include:
  • Bayhealth – Feeding Our Neighbors;
  • Beebe Healthcare – Providing Vaccines to At-Risk Populations;
  • ChristianaCare – Gender Wellness Program for Transgender and Gender Diverse Individuals;
  • Nemours Children’s Health – Providing Access to Care at School;
  • Saint Francis Hospital – Fostering Partnerships for the Public Good; and,
  • TidalHealth Nanticoke – Equity and Racial Justice in Health Care.
