Governor Carney Declares COVID-19 Hot Spot in Sussex County, Announces Expansion of Community Testing Sites

Each of the health care systems in Sussex County is participating in this community testing effort. There will be bilingual staff on site. The timing and locations of initially scheduled community testing sites are below. Nanticoke Memorial Hospital also anticipates beginning community testing within the week and will provide details for their testing plan once details have been finalized.

Delaware Hospitals Work Together in State’s COVID-19 Response

(DOVER, DE – April 24, 2020) Delaware hospitals are working together and with partners in the State to ensure a coordinated, statewide response to COVID-19. In a uniquely Delaware approach, Delaware hospital representatives are in daily communication with each other and with State officials to ensure adequate capacity, testing supplies, personal protective equipment, and additional resources are available to meet Delaware’s COVID-19 needs.

Delaware Hospitals' Response to COVID-19 Pandemic

On April 10, 2020, the Delaware Healthcare Association submitted a report to the Delaware General Assembly entitled "Delaware Hospitals' Response to the COVID-19 Pandemic." In the report, DHA highlights how Delaware's hospitals are working together and with partners in the State and Federal government to prepare for and respond to the COVID-19 crisis. This includes efforts to increase hospital capacity, improve testing, acquire more personal protective equipment, augment our health care workforce and more.
